On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, finalists of the 15th edition of Roma Spirit gathered in Bratislava for a unique event. Organizers ensured a pleasant and inspiring day dedicated to recognizing their work and activities.
The day kicked off with a shared tea session, where finalists were welcomed by Ľubomíra Slušná Franz, the creator of the Roma Spirit concept, and Magdaléna Rothová, director of ACEC, the award's organizer. Later, everyone moved to a reception at the residence of Gautam A. Rana, the United States Ambassador to Slovakia, where the host personally greeted the finalists of Roma Spirit 2023.
Following this, finalists and laureates had the opportunity to present their projects and discuss common interests with American diplomats, members of the Preparatory Committee, and representatives of the Office of the Government Plenipotentiary for Roma Communities.
The highlight of the day was the afternoon program hosted by Dr. Johannes Wimmer, the Austrian Ambassador to Slovakia. Róbert Dobrovodský, the Public Defender of Rights, also attended to personally welcome the finalists and express gratitude for their efforts in improving the living conditions of Roma women and men.
The entire event provided a chance to connect with the diplomatic community and discuss future plans and projects, while also recognizing participants who actively contribute to society.
